Photo shoot

Wow it's been almost a year since I wrote an entry...guess it's time for an update...
So I took a day off work on Monday to take wedding photos with Nix. I was quite nervous about it because I don't know how to smile. I really don't know how to smile naturally in photos, and I don't know why?!
The photographer was really good though; he did some test shots to see which angles made us look good/skinnier since we both put on some weight over the past few years.
Although we both started off being very rigid and tense, we managed to ease up a bit after awhile. I got to change 3 different times, and so did Nix. I wore 1 wedding gown, 1 evening gown and 1 Chinese dress.
We arrived at the studio at 12 p.m. and the makeup artist worked on me for literally 2 hours!  I guess I needed a bit of work.
I wasn't sure if I recognized myself, but I had on eyelashes that were like 1/2 an inch long!  I love the different hairstyles that she did for me though 'cuz now I think I know how I want my hair on the Big Day.
We didn't leave the studio until around 7:15 p.m!  It was a LONG day, but at least it was eventful. The only thing that I am nervous about now is how the photos turned out.  You see, the photographer made me smile with my teeth, and I NEVER smile with my teeth in photos. But in these photos I smiled with my teeth in pretty much all of them. Hopefully I won't be too disappointed when I see the pics, but we won't see them 'til around June. We'll have our outdoor shoot in downtown in July. Keeping my fingers crossed in the interim....

I found it!

Today is my lucky day! I found this classic game that I used to play as a kid on my uncle's Commodore 64. I had been looking for that game for the longest time, but had difficulty because I couldn't remember the name of it, but today I found it! Root Beer Tapper! That game was so much fun!

I'm Chicken Pox Infested

OK...so my worst nightmare is coming true. I officially have the Chicken Pox.. The bumps started appearing last night, today more are surfacing. I'm starting to feel the itch as well, and a little pain at the same time. Had a really bad headache at work yesterday, but at least it's gone now. Got some anti-viral medication today. I should be OK in 1 week. Now I have to lay low and isolate myself from the rest of the world..........

Chicken Pox?

A co-worker came into work today and got sent home because she had the Chicken Pox. My co-worker is pregnant too. Hopefully mother and baby will be OK. I am peeing my pants now because I'm scared I contracted the virus from her (since she sits across from me).  I was told the spots don't appear til 5-10 days after you get infected. I've never had chicken pox in my life.  I hear the later in life you get it, the worse it will be. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I'm feeling itchy. I'm hoping it's 'cuz I'm wearing a wool sweater right now...

Shopping @ Woodbury

I still have not recovered from my lack of sleep this past weekend. It all started on Thursday when I took a day off work. Actually I took Thursday and Friday off 'cause Nix had those days off due to the US Thanksgiving holiday.  Our plans were to go to the States to shop shop shop. 5 of us headed to Buffalo Thursday evening, first for a buffet dinner at Seneca. The food was mediocre, and not much selection. But Seneca was supposed to be good...We figured it was cause it was Thanksgiving and most people were home having dinner instead so that was why the selection was not as good.   After eating we drove 5 more hours before reaching our destination:  Central Valley, NY.  We got to Woodbury Premium Outlets @ 4 a.m. and I don't know about you, but I've never seen sooooo many cars at 4 a.m before.  Just picture 401 or DVP in the morning during rush hour. Tons and tons of cars packed together. One following another. It was crazy....But either way, we managed to find a parking spot and we started our shopping spree. There were lotsa people there, and even lineups to get into certain stores. Some stores were open at 12 a.m, but officially all the stores opened at 7 a.m. It was very different store-hopping in the dark. By about  8 a.m. the crowd died down (even though there were still lotsa people) I assume because some people had to go to work.  I was a bit disappointed that I didn't find as many spectacular deals as I had hoped, but I still managed to get 3 sweaters, a pair of pants and some corningware.  By about 10 a.m we were done and the 5 of us all met back at our van. We stopped over at McD's for a quick bite and then drove a couple of hours to Walden Galleria. We only stopped over for 1/2 hour - not many deals there...So after shopping and changing into our new clothes (and getting rid of our old clothing), we drove to the border where we were interrogated by the attendant. What did we buy, How much we spent, How much we had in our wallets, What were our occupations, Where did we get our van from, Where were we from?  After about a million questions, we ended up pulling over and paying taxes.  Our spendings were converted into Cdn $ and then taxed 14 %. GRRrrr....ah well...
After the trauma we went to the buffet at Fallsview for dinner. The food was much better than Seneca at least. After a night of pigging out we headed home.
My thoughts about this trip: Should have just spent my $ in Canada.
